A post-natal doula’s role includes practical and emotional help. Her work may include a variety of tasks from looking after older children and preparing meals, to undertaking light housework, shopping, laundry and similar chores. She can also offer support with breast feeding and general care of the newborn and is available to look after the baby so that the mother has time to rest. Her regular presence in the family means that she can be sensitive to needs and support you and your family as you adjust to the newborn.

Her ultimate aim is to nurture and support you as a new mother, so that you can in turn feel supported and confident to mother your new baby.
“Your pregnancy is unique and special and giving birth is a strong, powerful event that deeply affects your journey into motherhood. A stress free, positive experience has shown that babies are happier and healthier, bonding is easier, breastfeeding is more successful and you have more confidence in your parenting abilities.”
